Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including English and
Mathematics or a relevant Level 2 qualification.
Modules
You will develop a real understanding of what is involved, both theoretically and practically, in working in the wide variety of aspects of business.
In Year One you will cover business functions and internal and external influences on businesses, including marketing, finance, employment law, investigating customer service and managing an event.
In Year Two you will cover the learning of specialised subjects such as principles of management, business decision making, creative promotion and international business.
Assessment
This course is assessed through four external examinations and nine internally assessed units in which you will complete assignment tasks which may include reports, presentations, roles plays and much more. 2 exams are taken in year 1 and an additional 2 in year two with learners allowed 1 additional attempt for each exam. Formative assessments take place at the start of each unit and at progress review points every three weeks. Summative assessments take place throughout internal units in the form of a range of assignment work which can include presentations, reports, business plans, recorded role plays, events and industry materials.
In addition to the four externally set exams, the assessment methods will vary and reflect the types of communications used daily in business such as reports and presentations and will also include practical involvement in activities such as role play, market research and the managing of a business team event activity.

Equipment Needed
You should have access to basic stationary and equipment such as a notepad and a scientific calculator. You would benefit from access to a laptop computer or Chromebook.

You will have access to facilities and equipment designed to enhance your learning experience. Learn in our open-plan mezzanine space and access Chromebooks and Macs to develop real business materials.
Enrichment Activities
Your learning experience is enhanced through a range of exciting enrichment activities. As part of your studies you will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice through engagement with employers and local businesses. Employer involvement is at the heart of everything you do. There will also be trips and visits organised in addition to guest speakers.
