About the course

This course prepares you for a career in the computing and IT sector or for further study at university or through a higher apprenticeship.

This course is a two-year, Level 3 qualification designed for students looking to start a career in the digital sector, with a special focus on cyber security. Developed with industry experts, it offers a powerful alternative to A Levels, combining classroom theory with practical learning and a minimum 315-hour industry placement to give you real-world experience.

On this course, you will build core knowledge in essential digital topics including:

  • Problem-solving and computational thinking.

  • Business context and the value of digital systems to organisations.

  • Managing data, digital environments, and security risks.

  • Legislation, regulations, and emerging technologies shaping the industry.

  • You will then specialise in  Cyber Security, where you will learn to apply procedures and controls to protect an organisation's data, analyse security risks, and propose effective remediation advice. This qualification will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed for highly skilled employment, an apprenticeship, or university-level study.
