About the course

Develop your raw talent. Explore a range of styles and eras of music in performance and composition. The course is based on the practical skills of creating and performing music, while also gaining knowledge and understanding of the theory and industry practices within the subject. Theoretical aspects of the course are delivered alongside the practical elements to allow learners to understand the importance of music theory with relation to performance and composition (performing as a musical ensemble, creating musical material and using music styles) while also gaining an understanding of the music industry.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at Grade 5 or above which includes: English and Mathematics OR a Relevant Level 2 Diploma, Grade 5 Music is desirable but not essential, Instrumental ability will be assessed through an audition video

Modules

Throughout the course you will develop the comprehensive fundamentals of music practitioners through two module areas: 1-Music Skills Development and 2-The Music Industry. Music skills development is split into 3 areas - Performance / Styles / Creating music

Assessment

There are no exams on this qualification. All work is internally assessed. The content of your assessment will be outlined on an assignment brief; the design of these will be explained during induction. For every assessment there will be a clear deadline by which the work must be submitted to your assessor (course tutor). There is a one submission policy in place for BTEC assignments. However, it is also understood that under certain conditions it might be appropriate to allow a learner an additional opportunity to achieve more through a resubmission. Your assessed work will be a mixture of both practical work aligned with an academic underpinning.
