About the course

Kick-start a career shaping the built environment. This T Level blends cutting-edge design with hands-on surveying so you finish with the knowledge, confidence and portfolio to step straight into skilled employment, a paid Apprenticeship or higher education.

Learn the core of modern construction through live briefs and industry-relevant units: building and digital technologies (materials, MMC, services integration, CAD and introductory BIM); construction maths (measurement, setting-out, take-offs, tolerances, quality statistics); how the construction and built-environment sector works (clients, designers, contractors, regulations and planning); sustainability (low-carbon design, lifecycle thinking, energy performance, circular materials, environmental risk); professional communication (reports, drawing standards, stakeholder engagement, teamwork and ethics); commercial awareness (estimating, cost planning, value and procurement, contracts); and project controls (programmes, risk, document control, quality, H&S).

Build specialist capability with site surveys using real instruments, coordinated drawings to recognised standards, quantification and cost take-offs, and introductory 4D/5D BIM concepts. Bring learning to life on a substantial industry placement—supporting site surveys, CAD updates, cost checks, sustainability reviews and information management. Assessment blends core exams, an employer-set project and occupational specialism tasks to prove real-world competence.

Progress to Apprenticeships (Level 4 Site Engineering Technician, Level 4 Quantity Surveying Technician, Construction Design & Build Technician) or to HNC/HND and construction-related degrees. Early roles include Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Trainee Building Surveyor, CAD/BIM Technician, Site Engineering Technician and Trainee Design Coordinator. Built with employers, digital by design and sustainability-led—this T Level is your launchpad.
