About the course
Within Vocational Engineering Technologies, you can specialise in: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics or Fabrication and Welding.
This qualification is for you if you want to progress in a career in the advanced manufacturing and engineering sector. The course has been developed with industry experts to immerse yourself in the needs of local and national engineering and will prepare you for professional development into the engineering sector. Completing this course will allow progression onto a Level 3 course Level 3 Extended Diploma in engineering Technologies or a Level 3 Apprenticeship within Engineering.
Mechanical Engineering - This course has been developed to give learners a firm understanding of mechanical engineering and general engineering technologies. It will allow students to gain a strong understanding of what would be expected in industry as a Mechanical Engineer. Within this course you will study: Engineering environmental awareness, Engineering techniques, Engineering mathematics and science principles, manual turning techniques, Understanding Computer Aided Drawing (CAD), Engineering materials processes, Additive manufacturing (3D Printing), Applied Mathematics and Engineering design techniques.
Electrical and Electronics - This course has been developed to give learners a firm understanding of electrical and electronics engineering and general engineering technologies. It will allow students to gain a strong understanding of what would be expected in industry as an Electrical Engineer. Within this course you will study: Engineering environmental awareness, Engineering techniques, Engineering mathematics and science principles, Electrical and electronic principles, Electrical and electronic testing methods, Basic electrical circuit inspection testing and fault diagnosis, Additive manufacturing (3D Printing), Applied Mathematics and Understanding Computer Aided Drawing (CAD).
Fabrication and Welding - This course has been developed to give learners a firm understanding of fabrication and welding and general engineering technologies. It will allow students to gain a strong understanding of what would be expected in industry as a Fabrication and Welding Engineer. Within this course you will study: Engineering environmental awareness, Engineering techniques, Engineering mathematics and science principles, Producing components from metal plate, Producing components from sheet metal, Manual welding techniques, Understanding Computer Aided Drawing (CAD), Applied mathematics in engineering, Additive manufacturing (3D printing).

Entry Requirements
3 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, or a relevant Level 1 qualification.
