SIXTH FORM CAREERS GUIDANCE
Our dynamic Careers Team empower Students to make informed choices about their future. They work with them to understand, create and maximise opportunities, preparing them for the skills they may need for work, learning and life. The programme below is a framework of activity throughout the academic year. Students work towards a Core Value Award, encompassing all the skills, knowledge and behaviours they need to achieve their long term goals.
All students can drop-in to Student Services to receive impartial, high quality advice and guidance with the option to book a confidential, one-to-one appointment if required. Advisers will guide students through these appointments to develop their own individual action plan that can be accessed throughout the year, creating and completing challenging actions that will help move their lives and careers forward.
In these sessions we explore many different topics such as; skills development, employability skills (CV, application and personal statement writing, job searching, interview techniques, building a professional network including social media etc.). They will ensure students make contextualised informed choices and understand the Labour Market. Exploring motivations and longer-term goals, including how to create, understand and maximise opportunities.
Students have access to a wide range of enrichments that help you develop a broad set of skills. Activities include trips and visits, clubs and societies, Learner Voice, regular tutorials and Student Development Days. These opportunities help you gain confidence, broaden your horizons and develop vital skills for your future.
Embedded within your studies, you will attend a range of tutorials tailored to growing your skills and confidence for your next steps. You will meet visiting employers, attend visits from Universities and inspirational guest speakers who will provide vital insights into varied careers, entrepreneurship and University-level studies. You will also complete work experience and/or volunteering opportunities and the oppoerunity to enter competitions and contests to put your skills and knowledge to the test with nationally-recognised experts in their field.
